Asics is celebrating 30 years of the GEL Technology this year. And what better way to celebrate such longevity and success than to go crazy with a proper celebration — this time — with Mita Sneakers Japan. You might remember them from sick collaborations like Bape on Reebok InstaPump Fury, Adidas on the striking Seeulater and ASICS on a GT-Cool Xpress — to name a few.
The brainchild of this one–off collaboration — the Asics x Mita Sneakers GT-II “Squirrel” — incorporates some truly ingenious materials and premium finishes. The uppers of the shoes are made in two tones squirrel brown. The darker areas on the quarter panels, eyestays an heel counter were named Dark Hazelnut, whereas the lighter areas on the toe box, heel tab and Tiger Stripe logos are covered in Light Chestnut.
As a further commemoration to the Tiger model, the insides of the Tiger Stripes logo are blue and red, the classic colors of Asics.
To round it up, the shoes really scream different in a world of re-releases and copycats, and stand out as much as an exquisite premium squirrel coat at a fur auction.
The limited quantity release was lunched to be a Japan-exclusive product, but updates confirmed the shoe will be
dropping in Europe this Saturday, December 3rd in different premium shops, priced €140.
