Hanon and Reebok join forces in Spring ’17 and present a brand new collaboration on a re-imagined edition of the Reebok Club C — a silhouette originally released as a performance tennis sneaker in the mid-80s.
The inspiration was taken from the legendary Claymore sword. Recognised as a symbol of strength and prowess, it was set apart from its contemporaries due to an unwieldy length and broad blade, and was the weapon of choice during Scotland’s clan wars and battles for border control against the English.
“Claymore” edition of the Club C is forged in rich pig suede and split with a ‘chain mail’ ballistic mesh. To depict the Great Sword, the upper is executed in sharp silver grey with a blue steel rubber outsole and offset with a lush brown satin lining.
Dual branding is applied to the upper by way of a shield and sword logo lockup, whilst an ornate Celtic knot pattern is featured across the collar lining, tongue backer and silk screened onto a laminate leather footbed.
Additional detail appears across the shoe by way of an embossed tongue patch with bar tack stitching, gold top eyelet, criss-cross micro perforations over the vamp and gold swords embossed on each heel tab.
The hanon x Reebok Club C “Claymore” will be released on Saturday January 28th 2017. Each pair will come complete with three additional lace sets, bespoke shoe box, and a special edition cotton dust bag.
