Forgotten gems: AVIA 285 MWBS FOM Running, 1999

Founded in Oregon in 1979 by Jerry Stubblefield, AVIA is an American footwear and clothing company. The brand killed it back in the ’80s and ’90s on the basketball court, with players like John Stockton, Robert Parish, Clyde Drexler, and Scottie Pippen lacing up AVIAs.
Not to mention that they also had a ton of awesome running silhouettes that would make some crazy retros nowadays — the 285 MWBS FOM being just the tip of the iceberg.

Released back in 1999, AVIA 285 MWBS features the brand’s FOM performance technology — specially designed for shock compression/absorption. The runner is dressed in mesh, leather and synthetics, in a specific late ’90s quite yet nice paneling.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that chunky and nonconventional sneakers are everywhere right now. What’s old is new again and we simply love it! And we’re glad that this underrated gem will enter our daily rotation.
